As I sculpted this piece, I thought of many ideas it could symbolize. Butterflies are lovely, delicate creatures, as are many in our society. The little girl is encouraging the butterfly to take flight, to soar, in essence, to prosper and live life. The first two sculptures that I made in this edition became a memorial to a young girl who lost her life way too soon in a tragic car accident. I hope this piece takes the viewer to a good place and symbolizes strength and love and memory of good times and people in our lives. |
